Metadata Alignment

Metadata standards and ontologies introduced in the previous section use different ways for expressing similar information. This happens because each standard has been created to address data that are specific for an item of some nature and may be not as fitting for another item or another system, as much as the language used in a museum differs from the one used inside a library. The alignment, therefore, provides a visual comparison of the single elements that are relevant to address information related to people, places, dates, and subjects/concepts inside our scenario.


Note: In some cases there may be more than one answer for each standard, when it expresses the same information using a wider and more specific range of elements. Properties are expressed in natural language in the form of questions and are divided in four tables: WHO, WHEN, WHERE, WHAT.
